Bicycle App
Where Riders Got Stuck
The cycling app had plenty of features but no clarity. A cluttered structure, weak hierarchy, and inconsistent navigation made core actions like finding races or starting live tracking surprisingly hard. Onboarding offered little guidance, leaving users without a clear mental model.
Low contrast, messy typography, and an absent design system added visual noise, not value. Marketing brought riders in, but the confusing experience sent them right back out, resulting in high bounce rates and low retention.

Designing a Clearer Path for Cyclists
This project reimagines the cycling experience by turning scattered ride data into a clear, intuitive interface. Through simplified onboarding, focused performance metrics, and a streamlined visual system, riders can access essential insights instantly, without distraction. Designed for cyclists who need fast, glanceable information during preparation and on the move, the app prioritizes clarity, efficiency, and real-time usability over complexity.

Our Mission for the Redesign
In an overcrowded fitness and cycling app landscape, the product needed to stand out by solving a core problem: helping riders cut through the noise to find races that matter to them and track performance in ways that actually inform their training. The objective was to create a streamlined experience where users could quickly discover relevant upcoming events and access the metrics most critical to their riding—delivered through clean design, effortless navigation, and real-time data that empowers better decisions on and off the bike.

The Roadmap Behind the Redesign
We began by mapping the rider journey and identifying where the experience broke down. From there, we simplified the app’s information architecture and redesigned core screens to improve clarity during both planning and active rides. Most of the effort focused on refining the race-selection and live-tracking flows, enabling cyclists to follow multiple routes, compare metrics, and access personalized race cards. This became the product’s key differentiator and significantly elevated its real-world value.

Design Choices That Mattered
We restructured the profile and settings into intuitive, visually distinct groups supported by clear iconography, reducing the effort required to locate key information. Rider stats and performance metrics were surfaced prominently to reinforce value and encourage engagement. Essential actions, such as editing the profile, changing language, and accessing favorites, were placed in consistently accessible sections, creating a more predictable and efficient navigation experience.

The Results That Moved the Needle
The redesign increased user retention by 58% and reduced early abandonment by 42%. Riders now spend 35% more time in the app, and daily return rates grew by 47%. Support requests dropped by 52%, lowering costs and improving overall user satisfaction.
